Campaign 2008

Yes, it is official. My first act as a political being took place this weekend. I was dressed up in a Barack Obama onesie (thanks to Ms. Young Yoo) and was made to hit the pavement showing my support for his presidential campaign. You may wonder, did I have a choice in which candidate I wanted to support? No, of course not. Because you know if I did, it would be a no brainer that I would pick the one person who could feed me (or at least, it looks like she could) Hillary! If she got infants the right to vote, she would have the job in the bag!

quality time with my dad

This week my dad stayed home with me while my mom was the one who disappeared all day. I got a little worried at first about food. You see, I have tried to get something out of my dad's chest, but they're dry! And I am good at what I do! But it all worked out. I had the same tasty treat, just from a bottle instead.

Dad wasn't into the baby classes that mom takes me to. He is more of an independent caretaker. We took lots of walks. Every time dad or I got a little cranky, off to the stroller we went. We strolled around Home Depot, Costco (here we got tons of veggies to make juice with), REI, and even a toy store or two. But, when we were home, dad (just like mom) often gravitated towards this computer thing. I won't stand for much sitting in front of the computer if I am not working on my blog. I get fussy almost instantly and they know to move away quickly.

Well, the obvious question here is who does a better job, right?! I know better than to pick a side so I am just going to say that they both have their own styles. Dad is really good at making me laugh and taking me to places filled with tons of stuff to look at. But I do love that "on-demand" feeding system that my mom seems to have built in. So I guess it is a toss up. I need them both (and that is just fine).

the radish and i

About a day ago I came across something new, a radish. My mother just casually placed it in front of me. I tried to pick it up but was unsuccessful. I smiled at it but got no response.
I tried to move it by sending it messages via my brainwaves but nothing happened. I finally became frustrated and ended my time with the radish. I don't plan on hanging out with any more radishes. Have you ever had a bad time with a root vegetable? I'd love to hear about it so I don't feel like it's just me.

take me out to the ballgame

Yesterday my dad came home with tickets to the Mariners game! So off we went, throwing bedtime to the wind. When we arrived I was raring to go, I had my baseball hat on and everything (The Mariners don't make hats that fit my head yet so I wore this little bear number instead).

When we got there, my mother noticed a guy with a camera taping children for the big screen. After he finished with one kid, she waved at him to have a look at me. Well, he looked over and smiled and came right over. In a few seconds my face was on the big screen for all to see! I was stunned. My parents couldn't get me to laugh but the crowd liked me anyway. I don't know if this counts as 1 of my 15 minutes of fame?

After awhile, I was not really following the game. These things are long!! So my parents took me for a walk. They got some spicy chicken tenders that required a lot of soda to enjoy. We also took a picture with Raul IbaƱez (his image was actually digitally added later, he was busy at the time). Then I got tired and my dad said we should go. My mom said no and took over carrying me. She rocked me to sleep so she could stay and watch the game a little longer. I didn't mind. She covered me with a blanket and I slept just fine through a few more innings 'til I was brought home to my own bullpen. All in all, it was a great game, even if Oakland beat us

the zoo

You were probably asked the inevitable What did you do this weekend? today, right? I wasn't, only because I was asleep both times we left the house and my mother was with me all weekend so what would be the point of her asking me. So, let me tell you, so I can get it out of my system.

My parents try to plan some kind of excursion each weekend, not for my sake, but theirs. Not to say that I don't enjoy new scenery and try to take it all in, but, really, I am easy to please. The park, again, is fine with me. But I am not able to properly convey this to them with my repertoire of coos, smiles and cries so off we went. This weekend it was the zoo!

Here we are, tailgating, before going in to see the lions play the bears.

If you must know, this is a zebra.

Here I am, taking a protest nap.
You see, I feel for the animals being gawked at all day..."awww so cute, oooooh so big, ooooh, he has a lot of hair." So I decided I wasn't going to participate in these activities as a kind of "Golden Rule" protest. I don't want folks gawking at me, so I didn't gawk at the animals. I also couldn't see because too many people were out of their strollers, blocking my view.

This is a baby tapir.

I woke up because I got hungry.

Here I am, downing some breast milk.
My mother said she felt in tune with the other mammals at the zoo, feeding me here.

I guess my dad is getting jealous lately because he continues to try to feed me too!

Here, a falcon is impersonating a man.

Most of the time I found my mom and dad more fun to look at! They are currently my favorite animals and my favorite zoo is the one I like to call home!

my first hike

This weekend my mom and dad and I took a little trip to Tiger Mountain to do some hiking. Since I don't walk yet, (I'm just beginning to master rolling from my back to my stomach so I have a little ways to go) I was actually carried up the mountain by my dad. He can't wait to get one of those high-tech hiker baby backpacks but I am still a bit too young so he just strapped me onto the front of him with the carrier we have. I enjoyed it thoroughly, regardless.

When we arrived all we could hear was the roar of the highway. But we started up the trail and slowly the noise subsided. After about an hour of the staring at the same thing; leaves, branches, tree trunks, leaves, branches, tree trunks, leaves, branches, tree trunks... I decided to take a nap. When I woke up, my dad was unhooking me from his chest and we had made it to the top. Yay! That meant it was time for my summit snack! Yes, I still get excited about breast milk even though I have had it everyday for all 122 days of my existence (my dad did attempt to get me to try a banana but I wasn't interested). I would rate this setting as the best background yet for my dining experience.

On the way down, I got a little tired of having to sit in the carrier for so long. We took a break and I got to play Superman games with my dad while my mom took lots of photos.

They did make me get back in the carrier shortly after this pit stop so I decided to take yet another nap. When we got home I took a bath and relaxed in my easy chair after a long day of exercising!
